TikToker Bree Gardner (@kendallbreyon) has gone viral after coming across a surprise item in Ross Dress For Less.
With its discounted stock, Ross Dress For Less is often seen as a place to find something unique. And in finding a very specific company T-shirt, a shopper definitely managed to tick that box.
It’s common to find unusual items in discount stores like this. As BroBible previously reported, customers have previously found things, like Nike Ja 2 shoes, at Burlingtons and Chomp Sticks at TJ Maxx. However, this find is particularly niche.
The TikToker Bree Gardner (@kendallbreyon) was shopping in Ross when she made the unusual discovery, sharing it with 1.4 million viewers.
“I’m in Ross looking for some clothes, and I found somebody’s company T-shirt in here for sale for $13,” she says.
In the video, Gardner was holding the charcoal T-shirt emblazoned with a logo that reads, “Get good lawn care: let your worries be ours.”
She then gives viewers a peek at the back of the T-shirt, which includes a working QR code, a phone number, and a list of services.
“So, Get Good Lawn care,” she says, holding up the shirt. “Your shirt is here […] at Ross Dress For Less.”
She then shows viewers the $12.99 tag.
“So again, Get Good Lawn Care, your shirt is here at Ross,” Gardner repeats.
The creator then goes on to talk about her affinity for company shirts. “So, you know, I am gonna buy this shirt. I love a good company shirt,” she enthuses. “Like, every job I have ever quit, I can still wear like my work shirts. I love a good company shirt. So, Get Good […] Lawn Care, I will be getting the shirt. Thank you.”
‘Ross Will Put Anything On The Sales Floor’
In the comments, users speculated how the shirt might have got there.
“Ross will put anything on the sales floor,” one wrote. “I’ve seen peoples used clothes on the rack. Lol.”
“People swap out clothes in the dressing room and wear the stolen stuff out,” a second added. “Saw this many times at Target as an employee.”
“My friend used to work for Ross and one day she forgot her sweater. The next day she went looking for it and found on the sales floor,” a third claimed.
While a fourth said. “The Spanx CEO said she used to go to department stores and put her products on the shelves so this may have been a calculated move by one of the employees/ owner.”
What Happened Next?
In a follow-up video, Gardner shares how, after her initial video blew up, Get Good Lawn Care offered a giveaway of these T-shirts for the first 100 people who followed their TikTok, filled out a link in its TikTok bio, and left a Google review of their business. Since then, Get Good Lawn Care has started to sell the shirts online.
While the shirts’ original price was listed at $29.99, at the time of writing, that price has gone down to $19.99.
Does Ross Sell Used Clothes?
The answer is complicated. As explained on a blog post on Reselling Revealed, Ross sells merchandise purchased by all kinds of vendors. These include established fashion brands, distributors, manufacturers, and wholesalers. By sourcing stock in this way, Ross is able to fufill its unique selling point: offering branded items at a discounted price. However, it doesn’t accept donations directly from shoppers.
Still, Reselling Revealed claims that used items might find their way to Ross in two ways. These are if they have been returned to their original store or have a minor manufacturing flaw. Usually, clothes at Ross find their way to the shelves on account of being overstock, out of season, damaged, or returned. While this doesn’t exactly explain where the shirt comes from, it could be that Ross bought them from the business directly at a reduced price due to a manufacturing fault or them having too much stock. Or, as commenters suggest, it might have found its way on the shop floor after someone came in wearing it. Either way, the shirt has a happy home now.
