Fortnite Battle Royale is already one of the most popular video games in the world and it is about to become an even bigger deal. On Thursday, Epic Games announced that Fortnite Battle Royale is coming to iOS and Android. But could this lead to a wonderful world where you can play FBR between all platforms?

Fortnite Battle Royale is the incredibly popular free-to-play co-op survival RPG video game where 100 players duel it out. Epic Games promises that the mobile game will “be the same 100-player game you know from PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac.” “In partnership with our friends at Sony, Fortnite Battle Royale will support Cross Play and Cross Progression between PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS and eventually Android,” Epic Games said in a statement. Noticeably missing is Xbox One, but maybe someday. Sony and Microsoft haven’t been able to come together and allow games to be played on both gaming consoles in the past. Technically, a game could be played between the PS4 and Xbox One, but the companies don’t seem to be keen on cross-platform gaming.

Epic Games hopes to one day to have cross-play of Fortnite Battle Royale across all major gaming platforms like Xbox One, PS4, PC, iOS, and Android. “We believe this is the future of games,” Epic Games said. “The same game on all platforms. Console quality graphics and action. Play when you want, where you want.” This would enable a larger gaming community and that means more revenue.

Epic Games will have an Invite Event on Monday, March 12th. “Starting Monday, March 12, sign-up at www.Fortnite.com for the Invite Event on iOS,” Epic Games said. “Email invites will start rolling out soon thereafter,” the announcement said. “When you are invited, you will receive an email with a link to download the game from the App Store. If you don’t receive an invite right away, don’t worry. We’ll be adding more players regularly over the coming months.” Android support will be added “in the next few months.” Check out the Fortnite Battle Royale that allows you to play as John Wick.
