Regardless of how you feel about Gwyneth Paltrow, you’ve got to give her this: the woman, for better or for worse, largely says whatever comes into her head.

Take her touching tribute to the late Matthew Perry, for example. Following the tragic passing of the late 54-year-old former Friends star over the weekend, the 51-year-old Academy Award-winning actress took to Instagram to share a very touching remembrance of him.

And in that remembrance, which details when the pair met in 1993, the former Marvel Cinematic Universe actress casually mentions that the pair hooked up. To be clear, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Paltrow deciding to kiss and tell. It’s also just very Paltrowian to mention it in a eulogy.

“I met Matthew Perry in 1993 at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Massachusetts. We were both there for most of the summer doing plays. He was so funny and so sweet and so much fun to be with. We drove out to swim in creeks, had beers in the local college bar, kissed in a field of long grass. It was a magical summer,” Paltrow posted on Sunday.

The ending of her caption was particularly poignant, and she shared her hope that Perry has found the peace he was so clearly always looking for.

“He had shot the pilot of Friends but it had not aired yet. He was nervous, hoping his big break was just around the corner. It was. We stayed friends for a while until we drifted apart, but I was always happy to see him when I did. I am super sad today, as so many of us are. I hope Matthew is at peace at long last. I really do,” she wrote.

Perry passed away at the age of 54 years old on Sunday, October 28 after he was found unresponsive in the hot tub located at his home in Los Angeles, California. Police have said they do not suspect foul play at this time.

According to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office, Perry’s cause of death has been “deferred” and will be officially determined in the coming weeks.
