Las Vegas cannot exist without tourism. The Las Vegas Strip accounts for around half of all the gaming revenue generated in the state of Nevada ($8-9B) and when tourism is down, it is felt immediately with dips in foot traffic, room occupancy, empty restaurants, stale nightclubs, etc. But during boom times, Las Vegas is arguably the most fun place on planet earth to party and the Wynn Resorts’ XS Nightclub is one of those nightclubs that puts Vegas in a different stratosphere from the rest of the partying world.

After closing for three months to complete a top-to-bottom renovation, XS Nightclub reopens tonight. If you have been there before you probably remember it costing a small fortune but I suspect you did not spend enough to set you back for years. Should you want to be at XS Nightclub tonight for the reopening to see Rüfüs Du Sol, or tomorrow to see The Chainsmokers (Calvin Harris on Sunday), you will need to fork over more than the cost of a 5-series BMW for a VIP table.

Popular Las Vegas Night Club Reopens With VIP Tables Costing A Fortune

Over on X, the popular account @VitalVegas shared screenshots showing the breakdown of how much it would cost to purchase one of the remaining VIP tables at XS Nightclub tonight for the re-opening. This is a 12-person table with instructions to “arrive by 11:30 PM” and does not stipulate an opening time.

The VIP table requires a deposit of $30,910 and a minimum total spend of $60,000. But this is Las Vegas and Vegas LOVES to tack on fees, right?!

There is a $10 processing fee and $900.30 credit card fee just for the deposit. On top of the $30,910 deposit, guests are committing to a minimum spend of $60,000. But it doesn’t come out to $60K, does it? It is a total spend agreement of $84,689.05. That total includes the $60,000 spend agreement, a $9,000 venue fee, $9,000 automatic gratuity, $5,778.75 in Sales Tax, the $10 processing fee, the $900.30 credit card fee, which leaves $53,778.75 due at the venue aver the $30,910 deposit.

Are there other options?

Out of a healthy ‘trust but verify’ curiosity, I went to the XS Nightclub website through the link above and started looking around at available options. There are still 12-person VIP tables available but the number I saw listed is a total of $56,462.80. Presumably, XS Nightclub began dropping the prices once word got out that it was $84K for a VIP table ON A THURSDAY just to see Rüfüs Du Sol when The Chainsmokers are there tomorrow and Calvin Harris on Sunday. Nothing against Rüfüs Du Sol, they’re great, but they aren’t Calvin Harris or The Chainsmokers.

To be fair, it is the first night after the club is reopening. And these are the 12-person VIP tables. There were many options that cost less though nothing could be deemed ‘affordable’ but nightclubs in Las Vegas are the very definition of a luxury spend and never meant to be affordable. And I’ve been to this club several times, of course all prior to the overhaul and reopening, and I can’t recall spending a fraction of this $80K+ fee even though we had huge tables with lots of bottles.

Spending $84K for a 12-person VIP table at XS Nightclub in Las Vegas is surely worth it to someone out there. At a certain point, someone making so much money that $84,000 is just a drop of water in a bucket, it doesn’t matter to them. But I’d probably wait until Kaskade plays XS next Friday on the 12th. Definitely a better use of the funds.

Is Las Vegas Doing Alright?

While many resorts in Las Vegas are feeling the pinch from tourism being down, Wynn Resorts remains profitable. That is where XS Nightclub is located and it’s where I prefer to stay when I’m in Vegas.

Down the strip, MGM Resorts reported a Q3 decline of 1% in revenue which was a drop to around $2 billion. MGM Resorts’ adjusted EBITDA also reportedly fell 20.4% year-over-year according to Global Gaming Insider.

All of that is to say, charging $80K+ for a VIP nightclub table in Las Vegas while tourism is down might not create the best optics. Everything in the country feels more expensive these days, most of it is. Pricing virtually everyone alive out of partying is interesting optics on The Strip.
