According to reports, a new favorite to take on the role of James Bond has emerged, as Bullet Train star Aaron Taylor-Johnson reportedly met with franchise producer Barbara Broccoli about taking on the mantle of 007. The report from Puck News states that the meeting “went well.”

The 32-year-old Taylor-Johnson, who most recently starred in Bullet Train alongside Brad Pitt, has also appeared in films such as Tenet, Outlaw King, The Wall, Nocturnal Animals, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Godzilla, Savages, and the Kick-Ass franchise.

Kraven the Hunter star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has reportedly met with James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli. Puck News’ Matthew Belloni says that the actor sat down with 007 brass and the “meeting went well.”

In their report, the writer notes that Taylor-Johnson fits a lot of the descriptions we’ve heard about the next possible Bond actor. Broccoli has been on record as wanting a younger star, that’s British and doesn’t carry that megastar pedigree already. [ComicBook via PuckNews]

As the report notes, however, Taylor-Johnson’s next two roles are of a rather large profile — he’s leading a Spider-Man spinoff and will star alongside Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in The Fall Guy — which could ultimately make his fam a bit too grand for what the producers had in mind. Regardless of which actor eventually lands the part, it’s clear that the franchise is searching for someone in their late 20s/early 30s.

Whoever takes on the iconic role of James Bond next will face the daunting task of succeeding Daniel Craig, who starred in five 007 films — Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time To Die — from 2006 to 2021.

In addition to Craig, the legendary MI-6 spy has been portrayed by Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan.
