Since news first broke that he was hospitalized back in early April, very few details regarding the status of Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx have been made available to the public.
As a result, there have been moments over the last few weeks where misinformation regarding his current condition has spread on social media.
Finally, though, fans have been provided with a somewhat concrete update, as Foxx’s former Dad Stop Embarrassing Me co-star Porscha Coleman recently shed some light on Foxx’s current situation.
“I’ve talked to people very close to Foxx, [he] is doing well. I hate that the media outlets kept running with the narrative of what was going on without having the proper information,” Coleman recently told Entertainment Weekly.
“One thing about Jamie is that he’s always valued his privacy. If you’ve noticed, Jamie Foxx has always been on the low. Even when it came to dating, Jamie’s always been private, so it never surprised me. Once I heard the news, of course, I reached out, but how Foxx is doing it is how Foxx should be doing it. He’s resting, he’s well. And he’s going to be back. Trust and believe.”
The situation regarding Foxx and his health will likely come to a head later this summer as the 55-year-old is one of the two leads alongside Will Ferrell in the upcoming comedy Strays, which is currently scheduled to release on August 18. While it’s unlikely that Foxx participates in the press junket, his co-stars that do speak to the media will surely be asked about his situation
Given that Strays seems to be an evergreen comedy film, there’s a chance that Universal Pictures delays the release of the film once again (it was originally dated for June 9) in order to give Foxx further time to recover. At this time, however, the studio hasn’t made an official comment on the release of the film following Foxx’s April hospitalization.
