Shrinking star Jason Segel revealed in an interview that legendary movie star Harrison Ford agreed to join the Apple TV series after watching two of Segel’s previous projects. One of those projects, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, earned Segel a unique compliment from Ford.

Speaking to Seth Rogen as part of Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” series, Jason Segel revealed that, while accepting the role in the hit AppleTV series Shrinking, Harrison Ford texted creator Bill Lawrence a simple yet hilarious acceptance: “I’m in. And tell the kid: great d—.”

The ending of Forgetting Sarah Marshall famously ends on a scene of Segel doing full-frontal nudity.

“We got Harrison Ford because Harrison Ford is the kind of person you make an offer to, so that for three days you can say, ‘We’ve made an offer to Harrison Ford,'” Segel explained.

“He didn’t know, I think, anything about me. And so he asked, like, Can I see some of his work'” And they sent him… Brett Goldstein went and met with him, and they had a really nice meeting. And then they sent him End of the Tour and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. And then apparently, Bill Lawrence got a text that said, ‘I’m in. And tell the kid: great dick.'”

Shrinking premiered on AppleTV in 2023 and has been a massive hit for the streaming service, as it was renewed for a fourth season back in January. Jessica Williams, Christa Miller, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley also star in the show alongside Segel and Ford.
