Anyone who sold their stock in Jennifer Lawrence at some point over the last few years ought to be scrambling to buy it back, as the Academy Award-winning actress is not only back with a new R-rated comedy, but the film also features a completely stripped-down fight scene that’s being compared to Eastern Promises.
The scene in No Hard Feelings, which has made its way online to platforms such as Reddit, features the 32-year-old Lawrence in her birthday suit fighting what appears to be a group of college-aged kids on a beach. And when we say fighting, we mean *fighting*: punches, kicks, wrestling moves, you name it. Obviously, given the rated-R nature of the scene, we cannot post it here, so you’ll have to seek it out for yourself.
No Hard Feelings, Lawrence’s first film of the year and third since she made her return to acting in 2021’s Don’t Look Up, is directed by Gene Stupnitsky, the filmmaker behind the 2019 comedy Good Boys.
During a recent interview, Lawrence said that she’s always wanted to star in comedies like these — which Cameron Diaz, who was speaking to Lawrence for the Interview Magazine piece, called her “sweet spot” — but she hasn’t until now because she believes most movies aren’t all that funny these days.
Here is the official synopsis for No Hard Feelings, via Sony Pictures:
Maddie (Lawrence) thinks she’s found the answer to her financial troubles when she discovers an intriguing job listing: wealthy helicopter parents looking for someone to “date” their introverted 19-year-old son, Percy, and bring him out of his shell before he leaves for college. But awkward Percy proves to be more of a challenge than she expected, and time is running out. She has one summer to make him a man or lose it all.
In addition to Lawrence in the lead role of Maddie Barker, No Hard Feelings also stars Andrew Barth Feldman, Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, and Matthew Broderick.
