There is a very fine line when it comes to sending food back in a restaurant, mixed opinions on this topic are almost a sure thing amongst the people. Some feel it’s necessary when your food is not up to standard and others feel it’s disrespectful to the chef. I can’t deny the argument either of some that fear their food may be tampered with if they do send their dish back.

Jon Taffer, a man who is widely respected in the restaurant industry and for his hit show ‘Bar Rescue,’ insists that he never sends his food back, regardless of his hospitality knowledge and expectations he has for his own bars and restaurants.

Taffer sat down with The Brilliantly Dumb Show and I asked him what he is like on the other side of the restaurant spectrum as a customer in the food and beverage world. “These are my people, this is my world. I’m always a big tipper, and I always want to send a positive message to the places I go to,” Taffer explained. “I’ll never send a plate of food back in a restaurant as a customer. I will never embarrass an operator in that kind of way. I might get on a server if nobody comes to my table in 10 minutes but never have I sent a plate of food back, especially as a public figure.”

Taffer is praised within the industry and is a guy that everyone knows who has seen ‘Bar Rescue’ is someone who does not have a problem with conflict. His arguments and confrontations on the show are undeniably epic. A statement like this, however, makes you appreciate the guy beyond the camera and spotlight.
