Old video of Jonah Hill training jiu-jitsu has resurfaced online
While Jonah Hill appeared on the Smartless podcast back in April, his comments about training jiu-jitsu only went viral this week. Hill told co-hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes that he would ‘f-ing annihilate’ most people with his jiu-jitsu skill.
Jonah Hill’s comments blew up on social media, with many mocking the two-time Academy Award-winning actor for his apparent insecurities and completely missing out on the humility that usually comes with practicing a martial art.

“I love Brazilian jiu jitsu, except my body is begging me not to love it. My wife is often like, ‘You’re not going to become a professional fighter. You know that, right? You’re a comedian,'” Hill said.
“If we got into it, I would f— you up. I would f— all three of you up” My favorite thing is people are like, ‘Oh, Jonah Hill, f—— fat guy from Superbad.’ And I’m like, ‘I would f—— annihilate you, dude. I’m not kidding you. Try it. If you see me, try it, dude. Bring it. Who’s got it?’”

Following Hill’s viral comments, video of him grappling resurfaced online and showed a much different picture than the bada– one that Hill painted.

Whatever benefits Hill believes he’s getting from jiu-jitsu, they certainly aren’t materializing creatively. His last starring role in the 2023 Netflix comedy You People was widely lambasted, as was his Keanu Reeves-starring directorial effort Outcome earlier this year.
Cut Off, his upcoming comedy film alongside Kristen Wiig, was also pulled from the studio’s schedule as it has reportedly been deemed “unreleasable” in its current state.
