Before he became one of the most famous actors on the planet, Keanu Reeves got comfortable in front of the camera working for the CBC. He appeared in three episodes of Going Great where he learned about juggling, horseback riding, and traveled to a 1984 teddy bear convention as a reporter.

This footage hasn’t necessarily gone anywhere. It was always hiding in plain sight. If you visit Keanu’s IMDB profile and scroll all the way to the bottom (under ‘self’) his Going Great credits are listed as his very first on-screen appearance. But this video of Keanu Reeves at a teddy bear convention is going viral this week.

A tweet from ‘All The Right Movies’ sharing Keanu’s video from the Teddy Con has racked up over 300K views. The tweet says the convention was in 1984 even though IMDB says Going Great was in 1982. I’m going to assume IMDB has a typo because there are other videos (below) from 1985. This is a long way of saying he’d be around 19 or 20 years old here as he was born in September 1964.

I think it’s safe to say that nobody at that point realized the star Keanu Reeves would go on to become. He was just an incredibly likable presence in front of the camera. There was no indication that his film would gross $3,973,318,680 and he’d emerge as one of the most famous actors in Hollywood history.
