The Lamborghini Countach From ‘Wolf Of Wall Street’ Is Set To Fetch A Fortune At Auction

Martin Scorsese’s most famous films are largely cautionary tales that nonetheless do a pretty good job glamourizing the lifestyles of the characters who eventually see their lives fall apart but still had a pretty sweet ride up until that point.

That includes the mob masterpieces that are Goodfellas and Casino as well as The Wolf of Wall Street, which chronicled the meteoric rise and unceremonious fall of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort, the former stockbroker who spent close to two years in prison for the penny-stock scheme he helped orchestrate between 1989 and 1996.

Belfort used the estimated $200 million he swindled from investors to fund a wildly lavish lifestyle rooted in the heavy drug use that help DiCaprio define the character, and there’s perhaps no scene that sums up the essence of the conman quite like the one where the actor struggles to get behind the wheel of the white Lamborghini Countach he ends up crashing after ingesting a large dose of quaaludes.

The Wolf of Wall Street used a couple of 25th Anniversary editions of that particular Lamborghini model during filming, and while they actually wrecked one of them for the aforementioned sequence, the other managed to emerge from the set unscathed.

According to Hypebeast, that surviving Countach will be hitting the auction block when Sotheby’s kicks off what it’s dubbed “Luxury Week” this December.

A similar model (believed to be one of around a dozen still in existence) recently sold for around $700,000, but the outlet says the fact that the Lambo was used in The Wolf of Wall Street could spark a bidding war that could see the price surpass the $2 million mark when everything is said and done.

The auction is currently slated to kick off on December 8th, so it’s probably a good idea to start saving up if you’re interested in that particular lot.
