Choosing a favorite Seinfeld episode isn’t easy for fans. The answers seem simple for the show’s cast, possibly because Larry David, Jason Alexander, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are asked the question repeatedly.

Over the weekend, the trio appeared in a Seinfeld-themed virtual fundraiser for the Democratic Party of Texas.

The participating cast shared their favorite episodes and, not surprisingly, Louis-Dreyfus and Alexander chose episodes in which their characters have memorable moments.

Louis-Dreyfus’s favorite Seinfeld episode is “The Soup Nazi,” and Jason Alexander chose “The Marine Biologist.”

Larry David admitted his favorite episode was controversial, and if network executives shot the idea down for “The Contest,” the executive producer would have quit immediately.

“This one, I didn’t even put on the board because I didn’t want them asking,” he said.

“I just wanted them to come and see the read-through. [When they did] I had worked myself up into a lather because the read-through really went great.

I was watching [the network executives] and I couldn’t tell how much they liked it.

But I was ready to pack the whole thing in if they didn’t let us do this show: ‘I’m quitting. I’m quitting. I’m gonna quit.’

Fortunately, they didn’t say a word. I was shocked.”

David feels the episode was a game-changer for the series.

“That show changed something about how we were perceived in television land,” admitted David. “It really catapulted us to another place. It moved us to another level, I think. And the show got much more popular after that episode.”

“The Contest” – an episode revolving around the characters having a competition to see who could go the longest without masturbating – seems to be a popular choice among fans too.

Vulture named the episode the best of the series back in 2015, and TVLine ranked in number 1 in honor of Seinfeld’s thirtieth anniversary last year.

As for Jerry Seinfeld‘s favorite episode, he’s never really picked a winner, but admitted his two favorite shows to shoot were “The Rye” and “The Pothole.”

The show’s co-creator also shared his least favorite episode – “The Alternate Side” – on an episode of Watch What Happens Live.

“There was one where a guy had a stroke, and we were feeding him on the couch,” Seinfeld told Andy Cohen. “I felt very uncomfortable with that episode.”
