Back in 2015, actor Rob Lowe appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live showing off a Gold Card which gives him free and unlimited McDonald’s food for life, confirming that these mythical and long-rumored cards actually do exist.
Immediately, pretty much everyone who saw that wanted to know how the crap do we get our own McDonald’s Gold Card?
Turns out that Lowe’s McDonald’s Gold Card was only good at two locations in California as it was given to him by the owner of those franchises. Which is apparently actually a thing, because Warren Buffett has a McDonald’s Gold Card that scores him unlimited Mickey D’s for free in Omaha.
The only known Gold Card that is universally accepted at any and all McDonald’s, giving the bearer free food for life, is owned by one Bill Gates, according to Buffett.
Until now, that is.

Now, one lucky regular Joe has a shot at owning the legendary McDonald’s Gold Card thanks to a new promotion the fast food chain is beginning.
All you need to do is use the McDonald’s app to place an order between August 10th and August 24th and you are entered to win. And you can enter as many times as you like (once per day), as you get one entry every time you use McDonald’s Mobile Order & Pay.
The winner, once verified, will receive McDonald’s food for life, up to two meals per week for 50 years, awarded as a $1,000 credit on winner’s McDonald’s app and $35,400 cash, plus $15,600 to offset taxes on the prize, awarded as a check for $51,000. Winner will also receive a custom gold-plated phone case.
