Mean tweets - Avengers

If you weren’t watching Jimmy Kimmel Live last week then you missed out on seeing most of the cast members from Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War appear on the show. He dedicated several shows in a row and brought in batches of actors from the box office record-setting Avengers: Infinity War.

In front of the camera, Don Cheadle talked about the secret Avengers Fantasy Football league, Scarlett Johansson discussed flashing someone on a plane, and they talked about the least trustworthy members of the Avengers. Backstage, Jimmy Kimmel got all of his guests to participate in Mean Tweets, the recurring sketch where he gets celebrities to read mean tweets about themselves with a straight face.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Pratt, and the rest of the cast from Avengers: Infinity War all participated in a special Mean Tweets – Avengers Edition which Jimmy debuted on the show last night:

I kind of love when these actors lose it laughing over their mean tweets. It shows that they actually get the joke and have a sense of awareness. On the flipside, when the actors try and add their own commentary it never works. It just looks desperate. It’s also a shame that you’ve got someone like Benedict Cumberbatch out there, one of the most talented actors on the planet, and he’s not doing a dramatic reading of mean tweets. That alone would make for an excellent sketch.
