What exactly happened between Megan Moroney and Riley Green? Nobody seems to know…
However, the former appeared to confirm that she does not like the latter during her most recent concert on the Cloud 9 Tour.
One of the most popular female artists in country music pointed at a very targeted sign held up by a fan in the crowd. The gesture just so happened to coincide with a very specific song off of her latest album.
Did Megan Moroney and/or Ella Langley date Riley Green?
There may not be a bigger heartthrob (and heartbreaker) in country music than Riley Green. The multi-platinum recording artist was linked to both Ella Langley and Megan Moroney throughout most of 2025. He was involved in a love triangle whether he wanted to be or not. The rumor mill would not stop swirling.
Green and Langley’s song ‘You Look Like You Love Me’ went nuclear in 2024. They were very flirty with each other during the early performances of the smash hit. Everybody thought they were dating but it was never confirmed. In fact, Green specifically said otherwise.
And then the chemistry between them completely fell apart, which led to speculation of a breakup. Langley later confirmed that Green is “dumb” during one of her shows. She did not seem to like him very much at the ACMs earlier this year. It felt tense.
Meanwhile, as all of the initial speculation about a relationship between Langley and Green reached its peak, there was another woman that entered the mix. Moroney appeared to go on vacation to the same resort as Green in January of 2025.
And then there were their shark photos.
It also looked like Moroney wore Green’s cowboy hat in a photo on her Instagram story.
Green was later spotted with a mystery blonde in his hometown in May of 2025. The woman certainly looked like Moroney. It made sense that he would be in Alabama at that specific point in time. Eyewitnesses supposedly spotted them together.
Nothing was ever confirmed. We do not know for certain whether Green dated Moroney or Langley. Maybe there was a love triangle. Maybe there wasn’t.
Who is the song ‘Who Hurt You?’ about?
Fast forward to February 20, 2026. Megan Moroney released the song ‘Who Hurt You?’ on her album Cloud 9. Country music fans tried to connect the dots. They think it could be about Riley Green.
The theory primarily stems from the following lyrics:
“I was blinded by the lies and the manufactured smile. The devil went down to Georgia, then he crossed the Bama line.”
Green has veneers. Is that the manufactured smile Moroney is talking about? He is also from Alabama…
She goes on to reference “hometown happy hours,” which could allude to the mystery blonde visit. It feels like you can read between the lines.
Moroney had this to say about the song:
“I remember coming up with that song and trying to include every possible detail that rhymes, so that I could put it out into the world and never have to talk about that situation again.
Songwriting is always therapeutic for me—but with ‘Who Hurt You?’ in particular I released so many emotions, and it feels really great not to have that all pent-up inside me anymore.”
Green also teased a song called ‘POS like me’ that many people believe is a rebuttal to Moroney. Just listen to the words.
Now that you have all of the context, lets talk about the a viral TikTok video. Moroney is currently out on the Cloud 9 tour. A girl in the crowd held up a sign (on her phone) that read ‘RILEY GREEN SUCKS’ during the performance of ‘Who Hurt You?’ Moroney pointed in her direction and gave a very telling look.
If that is not confirmation of what we already thought we knew, I don’t know what is. Megan Moroney may never say who or what inspired her to write ‘Who Hurt You?’ but I am fully subscribed to the theory that it is about Riley Green. Especially after that look.
