It is not unreasonable to call Michael Bay the greatest big budget Action director of the 90s and 00s. From Bad Boys to The Rock and the entire Transformers franchise he was a hit maker for well over a decade in Hollywood.
It is also not unreasonable to point out that Michael Bay’s films weren’t always driven by a Shakespearean levels of writing. His success was all about the ‘big badda boom’ to crush it at the box office. So it is particularly interesting that he’s speaking out, and speaking the TRUTH about Hollywood’s use of artificial intelligence (AI).
Taking to Instagram, Michael Bay shared the following message: “Speaking about A.I. – it doesn’t CREATE it just IMITATES. And will create a whole bunch of lazy people. So to all the Original Creators out there, have No Fear!”
Michael Bay’s message about AI was quickly picked up by the popular X/Twitter account @DiscussingFilm and there was unanimous support for Bay’s message.
One person shared an image of George W. Bush receiving information with the caption “Sir, Michael Bay is cooking right now on the AI discussion.” Another joked that his new nickname is “Michael Based.”

Nobody outside of the studios wants to see a future where Hollywood studios can use AI to write scripts or make use of actors through artificial intelligence. That is a bleak future and the fight against AI has been at the center of Hollywood screenwriters and actors strikes.
