While Michael Gandolfini, the son of James Gandolfini, is forging his own career as an actor, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to separate to the two, as the younger is slowly but surely morphing into a spitting image of the older. A particular shot of Michael in Daredevil: Born Again has been going viral on social media for that very reason.
The younger Gandolfini has been starring in Daredevil: Born Again as Daniel Blake, and a GIF from the show circulating on social media has left TV fans stunned by how much he resembles his father.
It’s not just his similar facial features, though, as the viral GIF shows a nighttime scene in which Michael’s expression, physicality, and the weight behind his eyes land in a way that is unmistakably reminiscent of his legendary father James Gandolfini, who famously portrayed Tony Soprano in The Sopranos.

“I think it’s funny and fascinating that out of everyone in born again, Daniel seems to be the most unpredictable character. I literally have no idea what bro’s next move is. Michael Gandolfini, I really have grown fond of you,” reads one viral tweet.
“It’s actually making me a little sad how much he reminds me of James right here in this shot. Crazy,” a second popular post added.

In addition to Daredevil: Born Again, Michael played a young Tony Soprano in The Many Saints of Newark (2021). The 25-year-old old actor has also appeared in the films Cherry, Beau Is Afraid, Bob Marley: One Love, and Warfare.
As we shared earlier this week, Gandolfini has also sought guidance from Mad Men star Jon Hamm, who became his mentor after James Gandolfini’s death in 2013 — because James had told his son that Hamm was “a good guy.”
