Waiting for an oil change can feel a bit awkward at the best of times. However, for Olivia Boblet, things became excruciating when she discovered that her voice memos were being played in her car.
Boblet (@oliviaboblet) opened up about the faux pas as part of her addition to TikTok’s “put a finger down” trend.
What Happened During The Oil Change?
In the video, she explained how she was waiting for her oil change to be done. However, her Bluetooth was still connected to her car. This was problematic because, as she explained, her phone has a habit of randomly playing voice memos out loud.
So, Boblet was left red-faced when, as the workers pulled up in the car, the stereo was “eight minutes deep” into a voice memo.
Her problems didn’t stop there, as she put another finger down. She then explained how, six months prior, the same company was repairing the brakes on her car. They ended up spilling brake fluid all over the garage. She had to get the car towed. Because it was “completely their fault,” the company offered her a free oil change. They wrote it on a piece of paper, but unfortunately, she didn’t have this paper with her.
Feeling bold, Boblet brought it up, but the workers said they didn’t remember that. Nonetheless, they ended up giving her a free oil change anyway.
This, Boblet said, left her feeling like a “thief.” Given she also “blew them off,” got a free oil change, and had them listen to her voice notes, the TikToker couldn’t help but cringe.
“It takes a lot to embarrass me, but I will say, this trip to the oil change place got me,” she admitted. “It did.”
The clip garnered 17,900 views. BroBible reached out to Boblet via email.
How Did Viewers React?
Commenters couldn’t bear the second-hand embarrassment.
“Why wouldn’t they turn it down at least?!?” one amused commenter queried.
“No, because this is one of my fears and why whenever I get work done on my car I disable Bluetooth on my phone,” a second admitted.
“No literally I shut off my Bluetooth everytime I go to the dealership,” a third added.
While a fourth remarked, “I would die.”
“Motion to switch back to horses so us gals never have to go to a car place again,” a fifth wrote.

Man Hacks Apple CarPlay
A 2018 survey of 2,000 car owners found that most Americans don’t know much about cars. So, it’s unsurprising when these vehicles’ Bluetooth settings go a little rogue. On the flip side, some drivers take advantage of their car’s sound systems to get a specific result.
This is the case for TikTok user Cameron (@cronloya), who went viral after sharing how he manipulated his Apple CarPlay to get a humorous result.
In the video, he plugged his phone into his car, and the “Welcome to Chili’s” viral Vine sound started playing. Cameron couldn’t help but laugh, as the video’s on-screen caption read: “Today I learned that I could have my phone automatically play a sound when I plug it into Apple CarPlay.”
In the video caption, he added, “I will abuse this power.”
