‘House of the Dragon’ Star Says Some Extras Performed Intimate Acts For 12 Straight Hours: ‘It’s Pretty Gnarly’

'House of the Dragon' Star: Extras Performed Intimate Acts "For 12 Hours"

Milly Alcock, who has been starring as Rhaenyra Targaryen in the early goings of House of the Dragon, uncorked an unreal quote during a recent interview when she was describing the production of the brothel scene in episode 4.

Warning: this article will contain spoilers for the first four episodes of HBO’s House of the Dragon

During an interview with the New York Post, the 22-year-old Australian actress said it was “gnarly” to film the incest scene in the brothel during “King of the Narrow Sea”, as she claims some extras were performing sexual acts — including the one that’s one less than 70 and one more than 68 — “for 12 hours.”

House of the Dragon actress Milly Alcock says that some extras had to perform sexual acts for 12 hours while filming episode 4

“There were extras who we had just met who were like, **ing for 12 hours. It’s pretty gnarly. We [her and co-star Matt Smith] felt pretty overdressed because everyone else was nude.”

In addition to what the extras went through, Alcock also detailed the making of the hook-up scene between her and Matt Smith’s Daemon Targaryen, who is her character’s blood uncle.

“No, strangely enough. [Matt Smith and I] were just kind of mates. So, it was quite comfortable. We had an intimacy coordinator, and we worked with her through the rehearsal process and blocked it out months before.”

“Clare Kilner, our director, made sure that we hadn’t seen any of the brothel stuff until we were shooting. So, that was our first time walking through the brothel, and he’s guiding her through the room with all of these other bodies. So, that was quite shocking. You’re like, ‘This is kind of weird and silly.’” [via The New York Post]

According to reports, the upcoming fifth episode will be the final time that Alcock plays Rhaenyra, as yet another time jump will see both her character and the character of Alicent Hightower played by two new actresses: Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, respectively. That said, there have also been reports that HBO is considering bringing back the actresses who are currently playing the young versions of the characters for flashbacks in season two.
