I wonder if when whoever the hell created eBay (it was actually known as AuctionWeb back then) started up the site they thought that someday it would be a place where a person would spend $3.3 million just to have lunch with Warren Buffet?
Because if they did think that, then wow, talk about your freaking visionaries.
According to AOL.com (speaking of old school websites), eBay had quite a year for itself in 2018, the site’s 23rd year in existence.
Despite the growing popularity of Amazon and other online retailers, eBay managed to have a stellar shopping season this year. The e-commerce giant says it had ‘record-setting’ Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales — and experts predict the company will continue its steady growth well into 2019.
While the two shopping holidays certainly assisted in an amazing year for the brand, eBay can also credit its record sales to some of its most expensive items, too.
And what a list of items it is too! Screw your little impulse shopping indulgences, this is some SERIOUS online purchasing.
Among the 20 most expensive items sold on eBay in 2018 you have the aforementioned $3.3 million meal, a $500K 2017 Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce, a $400K Mike Trout baseball card, a 2015 Lamborghini Aventador, three Ferraris, a helicopter, another Lamborghini, a LeBron James card, a Captain America comic book, and a couple of watches.
Seriously, who buys a freaking Lambo or Ferrari, OR A HELICOPTER, on eBay?!
