- The second trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage dropped on Monday morning.
- The trailer features a heavy dose of Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Casady, a.k.a. Carnage.
- Venom: Let There Be Carnage is scheduled to hit theaters on September 24.
The Sony Universe of Marvel Characters (or the SUOMC — yes that’s its real name) befuddles me. I’m vexed by it. Everything about it, really. I don’t understand why Sony doesn’t just continue their highly successful deal with Marvel Studios and just allow them to use these characters as well. I don’t understand the tone of the films or why everything about them feels like they were unearthed from a time capsule from 2006.
Nevertheless, the first Venom movie made close to a billion dollar at the global box office, meaning a sequel was guaranteed. That sequel — Venom: Let There Be Carnage — was originally slated to release last Fall, but of course, was delayed by the pandemic.
Fast forward a year with the release of the film now just over a month away and Sony has dropped a second full trailer for the film that features a ton of Woody Harrelson’s Carnage, the latest addition to the SUOMC (will simply never get over that abbreviation). And for as sub-par as Venom and its sequel might be, at least it appears that Harrelson, as always, will be worth watching.
Inarguably the only cinematic event of 2021 that will see a Woody Harrelson monster tonguing a man to death pic.twitter.com/21bewzMxU1

Definitely a good choice going with Woody Harrelson for playing Carnage. It has the potential to actually be good, fingers crossed it doesn't disappoint. https://t.co/6QwCAYRHOt

Lot of expensive special effects being used to sell me on the slam dunk of "married couple vs Woody Harrelson" https://t.co/T0jMotNgnZ

It should be concerning how well Woody Harrelson plays insane characters.

2 things on the #Venom2 trailer:
Woody Harrelson looks like he is gonna be a lot of fun as Cletus Kasady. excited to see him go a bit wild.
no release date. IMDB still says Sept. 24 but as of now i think there’s a good chance that gets pushed. we’ll see.

At this time, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on September 24, although the trailer has some fans concerned as it only indicates that it’ll release “this Fall.” In addition to Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock / Venom and Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Casady / Carnage, the Andy Serkis-directed film stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, and Stephen Graham.
