Netflix is being accused of posting a reference and/or joke about Charlie Kirk on the one-year anniversary of his shooting on their UK/Ireland social media account. The post features characters from its hit series The Gentlemen, a spin-off of the 2019 Guy Ritchie film.
The post features stills from season two of the streamer’s hit series The Gentlemen, which premiered on September 3, and the caption “Nearly did himself a neck injury.” The photos used in the post show Theo James’ character Eddie Horniman sharply turning his head at his wedding to look at Kaya Scodelario’s Susie Glass, suggesting that the whiplash nearly injured his neck
Charlie Kirk fans are calling for a boycott of Netflix due to a post that they perceive as being a joke about him
The reactions to the post, which remains up, divided opinion. People who are mourning the death of Charlie Kirk were predictably outraged and calling for a boycott of Netflix, while those who were ironically celebrating the “Kirkeversary” found it amusing.

Conservative political influencers such as Riley Gaines and Spencer Pratt (who recently flamed out in his bid to be elected Mayor of Los Angeles) also weighed in.
“They know exactly what they’re doing. Today of all days…vile, soulless, blood-thirsty ghouls,” Gaines suggested.
“This is the company financially backing Bonehead Bob Bonta and his jihad against Paramount, by the way,” Pratt wrote.
Netflix is the latest in a long line of corporations that have become the target of politically motivated and often short-lived boycotts in recent years.
In 2023, for example, there was a boycott of Bud Light — now the UFC’s main beer sponsor — due to its collaboration with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Target was boycotted that same year over its Pride Month merchandise, while brands such as Starbucks, Nike, Keurig, Gillette, The North Face, Adidas, and even the NFL have also been rallied against over political grievances.
