Nick Cannon made big headlines back in May when he revealed how much money he has to earn in order to support his 12 kids from 6 different women, including twins with his ex Mariah Carey. In an interview, Nick Cannon claimed he needed to “generate at least $100 million a year” and also claimed that he does three times as much as Ryan Seacrest who is notorious for doing everything.

I’m not sure what it is about his lifestyle, 12 kids or not, that necessitates $100 million/year. Reliable or not, the top hit on Google says the average annual cost of child rearing is $21,681. Multiple that times twelve and if we’re going off the average, it would be $260,172 a year for 12 kids. But Nick Cannon’s a rich and famous celebrity so there’s obviously nothing ‘average’ about how he’s raising his kids.

Related to that, Nick Cannon‘s latest comments about taking his kids to Disneyland and how much he’s spending every year has caused a lot of chatter. As a guest on The Breakfast Club last week, Nick Cannon revealed he spends $200,000 a year taking his 12 kids to Disneyland.

I’m sure it isn’t just Nick and his kids going. They likely have nannies, the moms are there, etc. But if we’re dividing that $200K just by the number of kids that’s $16,666.66 per child just to go Disneyland.

Disneyland and Disney World are notoriously expensive. The VIP experience where you pay hourly for a Disney employee to take you around and skip every line costs a fortune. But surely Nick Cannon gets some of that for free, right? If he’s working 3x as hard as Ryan Reynolds he must be doing something for Disney throughout the year, no? But Nick told the Breakfast Club hosts he takes his kids once a month for birthdays and holidays.

I’m at a loss to understand how someone in Los Angeles could spend $16K+ per child at Disneyland when they’re (1) as busy as Nick Cannon is, (2) already live and work near Anaheim, and (3) reap the benefits of being a celebrity.

Nick addressed that. He got free tickets between 2009 to 2013 when Cannon hosted the Christmas morning parade. Those days are long gone. Cannon said “It’s not how it used to be. You got to make reservations. So, I’m spending $200,000 a year at Disneyland. I used to be an employee.”

Anyway, Nick Cannon got roasted a little bit once people heard him saying he spends $200K/year just going to Disney. On X, one person joked “Nick Cannon refuses to pull out unless it’s time to pull out $200k for Big Disney.” Another person added “He wanted 12 kids right??”

The comments on X are actually pretty vicious. The reality of the situation is that Nick Cannon can, evidently, afford to spend $200K/year taking his kids to Disneyland because he claims to make $100 million/year. Good on him for being able to provide for his massive family.
