An ex-Panera Bread worker decided to reveal something gross he saw in a salad order. Viewers couldn’t believe what they almost served the customer.
In a video with over 153,000 views, TikToker Puke (@le.kel18) peeks inside a Panera to-go bag. He zooms in on the top of the boxed salad. A stink bug appears stuck in a piece of cheese, wiggling its legs while it lies on its back.
The TikToker exclaims, “Ew!” in the background. On-screen text reads, “Since Panera fired me ima show y’all what you be eating.” He doesn’t share if they gave the salad to the customer or threw it away after discovering the bug.
Did Other Customers Find Bugs In Their Panera?
Other Panera customers shared the creepy crawlies they found in their Panera salads on Reddit.
One showed a dead wasp in theirs on the r/mildlyinfuriating subreddit. They captioned the photo, “Mmm yummy!! okay imagine being at work and cracking the lid to that yummy caesar salad and getting greeted by this little f—…I WANT MY FOOD WITHOUT BUGS!!!”
Another posted a dead bee on a crouton in their salad. They wrote on the r/Panera subreddit, “I love getting that extra protein that i didn’t even pay for! especially when they forgot my chicken the first time :)”
However, some commenters pointed out that bugs also eat lettuce. So it’s possible for one to sneak into the salad without the workers noticing.
“I’ve found a couple before. I know it is gross but it happens. It’s almost like lettuce is grown outside where bugs live. It’s bound to happen anywhere,” one commenter wrote.
A second suggested, “You know what also eats salad? Bugs. They generally do get sorted out, but there’s a higher than 0% chance of one slipping past.”
Viewers React To The Gross Finding
In the comments of the viral TikTok, viewers said that seeing the bug in the salad discourages them from eating at Panera.
One wrote, “Panera was my LAST safe fast food place where i felt i could eat decently healthy… I have no other options.”
“Yeah when it comes to salad, I think it’s best to just make it at home yourself,” another suggested.
“This gonna be the reason im not gonna eat a salad,” a third jokes.
However, some defended Panera, saying they’ve never had a side of bugs with their orders.
“I work at Panera… this has never happened to us…..” a viewer said.
A second commented, “My Panera would never wtf.”
“Guys it’s not true my aunt works there and that is not what you be eating,” another assured.
