Pete Davidson Goes Nuclear On Chevy Chase After Chase Called SNL ‘The Worst F*cking Humor In The World’

Last week, Geoff Edgers of The Washington Post released a profile piece of Chevy Chase, effectively painting the 74-year-old former SNL originator as a guy who wants to keep working in comedy but can’t get out of his own way. At times in the piece, Chase sounds icy, resentful, and flat-out jealous of the newer generation of comedians. Chevy was especially critical of the modern Saturday Night Live, a show he appeared on the first season of but left to pursue a film career.

Chevy did not mince words when discussing SNL 2018:

“I’m amazed that Lorne has gone so low. I had to watch a little of it, and I just couldn’t fucking believe it.”

“That means a whole generation of shitheads laughs at the worst fucking humor in the world,” he says.

Current Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson appeared on The Howard Stern Show and clapped back at the estranged comedian.

“He’s a fucking douchebag. Fuck Chevy Chase… he’s just a genuinely bad, racist person and I don’t like him. He’s a putz.”

“What has he done since ’83? Nothing. He had a big career and then it stopped because everybody realized he’s a jerkoff. He should know more than anybody. It’s disrespectful to Lorne [Michaels] too, a guy who gave you a career. No matter how big you get, you can’t forget what that guy did for you.”

Chase has become infamous for disparaging fellow cast members and having a holier-than-thou attitude on set. And as for the ‘racist’ claim Davidson made about Chase, he’s likely referring to Donald Glover’s claims while on the set of community. From a New Yorker profile:

Chevy Chase, one of Glover’s co-stars, often tried to disrupt his scenes and made racial cracks between takes. (“People think you’re funnier because you’re black.”) Harmon said, “Chevy was the first to realize how immensely gifted Donald was, and the way he expressed his jealousy was to try to throw Donald off. I remember apologizing to Donald after a particularly rough night of Chevy’s non-P.C. verbiage, and Donald said, ‘I don’t even worry about it.’ ” Glover told me, “I just saw Chevy as fighting time—a true artist has to be O.K. with his reign being over. I can’t help him if he’s thrashing in the water. But I know there’s a human in there somewhere—he’s almost too human.”

I’ve been down a Chevy Chase YouTube rabbithole many times before and there are some hilarious pieces of content from his SNL days and beyond. My family habitually watches National Lampoons Christmas Vacation on Christmas Day. It sucks ass that I now have to look at Chevy through the lens of being a complete asshat.

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
