Something very strange is happening in our skies these days. The number of unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, that are being spotted by not only civilians, but American government agencies seems to be at an all time high.

Either we are getting better at spotting these UFOs (possible) or there are simply just more of them out there than ever before (also possible).

Unfortunately, this surge in UFO sightings has not led to any groundbreaking discoveries, at least according to the United States government.

Of course, the United States does not have a monopoly on UFO sightings. Countries like Mexico, Russia, India, and Brazil have also had their fair share of unexplained encounters.

Another country which has had numerous encounters with UFOs recently is Canada.

Newly released pilot audio from January 29th is yet another example of this phenomenon occurring.

During a flight from Fort McMurray, Alta., to Yellowknife, N.W.T., a pilot on a Canadian North flight asks an air traffic controller, “Good evening, just wondering, do you got two planes that are just to the east of your field doing circuits or maneuvers?”

“Negative, I have no reported traffic in the area,” the air traffic controller replied. “Do you have a visual on something?”

“Yeah, we’re looking at two lights dancing around here, to the east of your field,” the pilot replied. “They’re above us, about, I don’t know what. We’re not seeing them on TCAS (traffic collision avoidance system). But we can see the lights moving around.”

“I don’t have anything on the radar either. Let me talk to center,” the ATC then said.

After a brief pause, the ATC tells the pilot, “Hey, center doesn’t have anything about any movement in the area, so I’m really wondering what you’re seeing there.”

“Yeah, so are we,” the pilot responds.

“Alright, I’m trying to look,” the ATC said back to the pilot. “I don’t see them from the ground here. Well, I’ll keep an eye out. I’ll talk with center again.”

As the plane got closer to Yellowknife the pilot reported that the lights of the UFOs were “moving around in a circular pattern.”

“We’ll talk on the ground,” the air traffic controller replied. “I’ll file a CIRVIS report – this is when we have some sightings that we cannot explain.”

According to CTV News

Civilian air traffic control in Canada is operated by the private company Nav Canada. According to Nav Canada aviation guidelines, CIRVIS reports – short for “Communication Instructions for Reporting Vital Intelligence Sightings” – should be made “immediately upon a vital intelligence sighting of any airborne and ground objects or activities that appear to be hostile, suspicious, unidentified or engaged in possible illegal smuggling activity.” Nav Canada even puts “unidentified flying objects” at the front of a list of “vital intelligence sighting” examples, which also include “submarines, or surface warships identified as being non-Canadian or non-American.”

Later in the audio, the pilot can be heard telling air traffic control, “We’re not crazy.”

While the UFO incident appears in a pair of reports on Transport Canada’s online aviation incident database, “reports of unidentified objects can rarely be followed up on as they are as the title implies, unidentified,” a spokesperson from Transport Canada said.
