The mayor of Pittsburgh has contradicted Morgan Wallen’s explanation of why his planned concert at Acrisure Stadium on Saturday, June 6 was canceled. Wallen claimed his team consulted with local authorities prior to making the call.
In an Instagram Story posted after the cancellation, country music star Morgan Wallen said that the show was canceled due to inclement weather and claimed his decision came after consulting with local officials for the safety of fans and crew.

That projected storm — the reason Wallen claimed the concert was canceled — passed through the Pittsburgh area earlier in the day and cleared out by 4:30 p.m. local time. The concert was set to begin at 5:30 p.m. EST, with photos from the event showing a gorgeous clear sky over the stadium.
Update on Morgan Wallen Pittsburgh:
It’s currently 8:38pm. The concert was cancelled out of “concern for fans due to inclement weather”

“After talking with local officials and my team, there is no choice but to cancel tonight’s show due to severe adverse weather conditions expected throughout the rest of the day and night. Safety for my fans and crew is the highest priority,” Wallen said on IG.
On Monday, however, Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O’Connor directly disputed Wallen’s version of events and said that neither his nor Pittsburgh’s public safety offices were consulted prior to the cancellation.
“There was no contact to Public Safety or my administration so however the artist and his team picked to not have the show, that was on them, there was no consulting for Public Safety or the City of Pittsburgh,” Mayor Corey O’Connor told Pittsburgh’s KDKA Radio.
“If you’re going to say that you consulted … that’s one story, we, again, had no record of that from public safety director, all the way down.”
Wallen did put on a show at Acrisure Stadium on Friday, June 5, though, where he went viral for taking a phone away from a security guard and throwing it across the stage.
