Post Malone’s Beautiful Rendition Of ‘Them Bones’ By Alice In Chains

Post Malone signing Them Bones by Alice In Chains

The Howard Stern Show / Sirius XM

Austin Richard Post Malone took some time out of his busy schedule of stop by The Howard Stern Show and perform a beautifully haunting rendition of ‘Them Bones’ by Alice In Chains.

Interestingly, Post Malone was born in 1995 and Alice In Chains basically broke up in 1996, though it was never official, and former lead singer Layne Stayle passed away on April 5, 2002, which was also the same date Kurt Cobain had died back in 1994.

All of that is to say that Post Malone basically grew up with the music of Alice In Chains but while the band was functionally broken up and then when the ‘reunited’ in 2005 it was with a new vocalist after Staley’s passing. And I do think having this retrospective on ‘Them Bones’ by Alice in Chains is part of what enables Post Malone to truly make this cover his own.

Post Malone Covers ‘Them Bones’ By Alice In Chains

Post Malone couldn’t appear on The Howard Stern Show and just over ‘Them Bones.’ He had to play some of his own music. And Postie chose ‘Landmine’ off of his new album ‘Austin’ to perform for everyone in the studio.

Should all of this encourage you to revisit the Alice In Chains version of ‘Them Bones’ instead of Post Malone’s cover, here’s a performance from May 7, 1993.

This has been an incredible year for Post Malone. The Summer concluded with him wrapping up the final chapter of his ‘Twelve Carat’ tour in Europe. According to Touring Data, the European portion of the tour alone earned him a reported $26 million across 17 concerts just in ticket sales, and a reported $93 million across the Europe + North America shows.

Post Spends $2 Million On A Magic the Gathering Card

He also became the proud owner of ‘The One Ring To Rule Them All’ Magic the Gathering card, a 1-of-1 trading card that set him back $2 million. Speaking with Howard Stern, Post explained how the $2 million card brings him joy. Howard was mostly incredulous that his money manager would allow such a purchase:

If it sparks joy and doesn’t put you at risk of going broke then it’s a great purchase, IMHO.

Oh, Post also capped off the Summer with a Tiny Desk Concert on NPR that might’ve been the best Tiny Desk Concert of the year.
