Netflix has released the first trailer for Rebel Moon, the upcoming sci-fi epic from 300, Watchmen and Man of Steel director Zack Snyder.

The film, based on a Star Wars pitch that Snyder had once crafted, stars Sofia Boutella in the lead role of Kora. Additional cast members include Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Cleopatra Coleman, Jena Malone, Fra Fee, Ed Skrein, and Anthony Hopkins.

Check out the first official trailer for Rebel Moon below.

Additionally, here is the official synopsis for Rebel Moon, via Netflix:

When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival.

Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.

According to recent rumors, the first Rebel Moon film — which will be released in December — is subtitled A Child of Fire, while its upcoming sequel is subtitled The Scargiver.

Rebel Moon — which hits Netflix on Friday, December 22 — will be Snyder’s first film since 2021, which saw the release of both Army of the Dead (on Netflix) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Back in 2021, BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast had the chance to interview Snyder ahead of the release of both Army of the Dead and Army of the Thieves. You can check out both of those interviews below.
