The luckiest man in Las Vegas just won the largest Pai Gow progressive jackpot of all time, worth a whopping $6,443,401.

Pai Gow Poker, also known as double-hand poker, is a version of Pai Gow that’s played using a 52-card deck and a joker instead of the traditional Pai Gow dominoes. The name ‘double-hand poker‘ refers to the style of play. Players must build a 5-card hand and a 2-card hand that beat the bank’s two hands and the 5-card hand must be better than the 2-card hand.

Progressive jackpots in Las Vegas are relatively common as are bad beat jackpots. The Pai Gow progressive jackpot at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino had reached a record amount when the luckiest man in Sin City hit a straight flush.

Using the joker, the player hit the 8s, 9s, 10s, Js, Qs, Joker, and A of Spades. The Flamingo Las Vegas then presented him with this massive check for $6.4 million:

After the record-setting Pai Gow progressive jackpot was won, armed security was on hand to protect the lucky gambler as well as reset the progressive jackpot to just $300K:

Here is the momoment he won the record-setting $6.4 million progressive jackpot:

According to the HendonMob database, Pai Gow jackpot winner Thomas Hanot has won $1.120 million in live poker events. His best cash at the poker table to date has been $162,300. That was for winning the $565 No Limit Hold’em – Main Event at The Gardens Poker Classic featuring Poker Night in America, Los Angeles in 2017.

He recently finished 33rd in the $9,800 + 600 No Limit Hold’em – WPT World Championship at the World Poker Tour Championship in Las Vegas (at the Wynn) on December 12th for $99,600. So it has been a pretty lucrative month-long stretch for this Vegas-based poker player.
