A New Rumor Says ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Could Be Getting Some Absurd-Sounding Single-Player DLC As Early As This Year

I don’t know if Rockstar will ever be able to top the masterpiece that is Red Dead Redemption which, as far as I’m concerned, is essentially the perfect video game but the studio did what it could last year when it released a sequel to its magnum opus.

Red Dead Redemption 2 premiered to unanimously rave reviews when it dropped back in October and there’s no denying the followup was worth the wait. It perfectly captured the spirit of the original while expanding on the world and mechanics it introduced, and while I don’t know if it managed to top the first one, it came pretty damn close.

There was no shortage of things to do in the latest Red Dead and I checked off pretty much every box while playing through it in a pathetically short amount of time, whether we’re talking about petting my horse way too much, fucking with the KKK, or grinding through some of the ridiculous gambling challenges because I’m a sucker for a sweet outfit.

I’ll admit I was a bit lost when I realized I’d done basically all there was to do just a few weeks after I started playing, and while I spent a bit of time messing with the game’s online competent, I eventually moved on after it failed to tickle my fancy.

However, it looks like I might have some motivation to free up some space on my hard drive again in the near future.

According to Games Radar, it looks like Rockstar could be treating us to some single-player DLC if you want to believe rumors that started to circulate in a recent Reddit thread in which someone who claims to have inside information concerning an alien-centric campaign spilled a few beans.

While the original Red Dead allowed players to fight their way through a zombie apocalypse in the form of the Undead Nightmares expansion, this untitled piece of content will allegedly elaborate on some of the Easter eggs suggesting the existence of extraterrestrial life hidden throughout the sequel.

There’s currently no proof that the DLC will be released around the turn of next year as the anonymous poster claims and the rumors come as a surprise when you realize Rockstar reportedly abandoned plans for any single-player supplements to Grand Theft Auto 5 when they realized its online mode was perfectly capable of raking in enough cash on its own (which makes you wonder how well the Red Dead 2 multiplayer experience is performing).

I’ll obviously be waiting on confirmation before getting too excited but my fingers have never been more crossed.
