The actors who comprise “The Gang” at the center of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia have spent close to two decades portraying some truly terrible human beings defined by their impressive lack of redeeming qualities.

That includes Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson, who respectively portray Mac and Dee on the longest-running live-action comedy in television history.

While the crew that’s responsible for making It’s Always Sunny the sensation that it is may not be perfect in real life, based on what I’ve gleaned over the years, they seem like pretty solid people who (thankfully) don’t have a ton in common with the awful characters they play.

As a result, it seemed like one of the parasocial relationships I’ve established with one of them was dealt a fairly crippling blow courtesy of a “blind item” that was recently amplified by Perez Hilton, which read:

“Apparently two married costars of a popular and long-running sitcom have quietly separated after the husband cheated on her in Wales”

You didn’t exactly have to be a genius to connect the dots and realize the “husband” in question was almost certainly McElhenney, who has been married to Olson since 2008 and has spent plenty of time in Wales since teaming up with Ryan Reynolds to purchase Wrexham A.F.C. (Charlie Day could technically be in contention when you consider he’s married to the actress who plays The Waitress, but that seems infinitely less likely).

Well, it didn’t take long for Olson to come forward to “confirm” there was an affair real in a tweet where she made it pretty clear their marriage is not, in fact, on the rocks.

McElhenney also chimed in to give her comical explanation his seal of approval and (presumably) put the unsubstantiated claim to rest.

I’d expect nothing less from two people who rely on comedy to make a living.
