If there is a fountain of youth out there, then perhaps Salma Hayek is proof of its existence, as the 56-year-old actress seemingly hasn’t aged a day in the last two decades.
The latest evidence of Hayek’s timelessness comes via the Oscar nominee’s personal Instagram account, where she recently let everyone know she’s on vacation in Mexico as only she can.
After breaking into Hollywood in the 1990s with roles in films such as Desperado, From Dusk till Dawn, Dogma, Wild Wild West, and Traffic, Hayek became an A-lister after she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance as Frida Kahlo in the 2002 film Frida.
From there, Hayek would go on to star in movies such as Once Upon a Time in Mexico, After the Sunset, Bandidas, Grown Ups, Puss in Boots, Savages, The Hitman’s Bodyguard (and its sequel), Eternals, House of Gucci, and Magic Mike’s Last Dance.
Hayek, in fact, credits Adam Sandler with bringing her career to another level, as she says that his casting her in Grown Ups helped Hollywood and audiences see her as something more than a sex symbol.
“I was typecast for a long time. My entire life I wanted to do comedy and people wouldn’t give me comedies. I couldn’t land a role until I met Adam Sandler, who put me in a comedy [‘Grown Ups’], but I was in my forties!” Hayek said earlier this year.
“They said, ‘You’re sexy, so you’re not allowed to have a sense of humor.’ Not only are you not allowed to be smart, but you were not allowed to be funny in the ’90s.
Most recently, Hayek had a starring role in “Joan Is Awful”, one of the episodes of Black Mirror’s sixth season on Netflix.
Currently, Hayek is attached to star alongside Anne Hathaway in Netflix’s adaptation of Kotaro Isaka’s Seesaw Monster and the Angelina Jolie-directed film Without Blood.
