San Francisco has served as the backdrop for some pretty memorable chase sequences in a few notable movies that have harnessed the city’s notoriously hilly streets for some wildly over-the-top spectacles.

That includes 1968’s Bullitt, which features Steve McQueen’s eponymous SFPD detective weaving through the streets of the City by the Bay during the iconic chase scene where he successfully evades the two hitmen who were after him.

There’s also The Rock, which boasts an absolutely vintage Michael Bay set piece where Sean Connery leads Nicolas Cage and a group of law enforcement officers on a lengthy pursuit that culminates with one of the city’s historic cable cars being destroyed in a fiery explosion.

However, it turns out the streets of San Francisco also have the ability to produce some similarly wild scenes in real life.

According to ABC7, police in San Francisco are currently searching for leads in connection to a wild incident that unfolded in the vicinity of Dolores Park on Saturday evening involving a vehicle that crashed through a barrier on Sanchez St. before plummeting over a staircase on landing on the sidewalk below.

Multiple cameras captured what transpired, as the footage features what appears to be a white Lincoln Town Car speeding through a neighborhood before launching off a steep incline and landing upside down on a sidewalk bordering 19th St.

A number of bystanders can be seen approaching the vehicle after it landed before multiple occupants emerged from the wreck and made an immediate effort to flee the scene, which seems to insinuate the car was stolen (the SFPD hasn’t offered any details on that front, although the aforementioned outlet says a man claiming he’d been carjacked eventually arrived on the scene and said the car belonged to him).

Regardless of the circumstances surrounding the crash, it’s very impressive the people inside were able to run away in the first place based on what transpired.
