While The Flash may be an inconceivable failure by every possible metric — unless that metric is the ability to put in the final nail of the coffin of the DCEU — one aspect of it that’s certainly been well-received is Sasha Calle’s casting as Supergirl.
Fans have been so thrilled with Calle’s performance as Supergirl, in fact, that one selfie photo of herself in her costume that she shared on social media had some movie fans changing their minds about The Flash entirely.
Calle’s Instagram has blown up since the release of The Flash, as she’s gone from about 150,000 followers to almost a million followers in just a few months.
Despite the fact that The Flash wound up being a box office bomb, Calle is certainly hoping that the project — her first in a feature film –serves as a launching pad for her career.
Coming up for Calle is the film adaptation of the novel On Swift Horses, which will also star Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jacob Elordi, Will Poulter, and Diego Calva. Helmed by longtime television director Daniel Minahan, On Swift Horses went into production earlier this year and will likely hit theaters in the United States sometime next year.
Prior to landing the role of Supergirl in The Flash — in fact, a video of Calle finding out that she got the part went viral and was one of the most genuine moments involved with the entire production of the film — Calle’s had previously starred in the television miniseries Socially Awkward and the long-running CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless from 2018 to 2021.
