Science Determines Who’s More Attractive: Conservatives Or Liberals
Do me a quick favor: close your eyes and think about the most politically-charged person on your Facebook timeline. What do they rant about? Whose side are they on? Why haven’t you de-friended them yet? Are they physically attractive?
The answer to the last question could depend on the nature of their posts. According to a study that was published last month in The Politics and Life Sciences journal, a person’s physical appearance affects their politics, with beautiful people leaning toward conservative beliefs.
Via NY Post:
“Physical attractiveness is an important social factor in our daily interactions. Scholars in social psychology provide evidence that attractiveness stereotypes and the ‘halo effect’ are prominent in affecting the traits we attribute to others,” according to political science professors Rolfe Daus Peterson, from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., and Carl Palmer of Illinois State.
“Controlling for socioeconomic status, we find that more attractive individuals are more likely to report higher levels of political efficacy, identify as conservative, and identify as Republican.”
According to the Washington Post, several studies Numerous studies have found that good-looking people are likely to earn more, and that people who earn more are “typically more opposed to redistributive policies, like the progressive taxes and welfare programs favored by the left.”
Research found that better-looking people are also treated better than others, thus see the world as a more just place.
Lets see if this logic checks out.
