A server had an unpleasant experience with rude kids at one of her tables. The server found a way to alter his Mountain Dew.
You’re never too young to learn the valuable lesson of not to mess with the people who prepare your food. One server took matters into her own hands after being mistreated by the kids at one of her tables.
In a TikTok with over 49,900 views, Minerva (@mini_minniii) shares what she did with their Mountain Dew.
“What’s something that you’ve done as a server to rude customers?” the on-screen text begins.
Minerva revealed what she did to the kids’ drinks when they were being rude.
“I’ll go first. If you’re rude and you have bad a– kids that want mt [mountain] Dew, I put a splash of mt dew then 90% soda water,” the on-screen text reads.
Minerva got her revenge on the table with a subtle, clever move. However, Minerva shared with BroBible that other service workers have confessed to far worse actions that are unsettling to hear.
Minerva told BroBible, “The thought of even doing half of the things most of the service workers do and have admitted to are just sick. Some of the confessions made me physically sick to my stomach.”
How Do Servers Get Their Revenge?
Servers revealed in the comment section how they deal with rude customers.
“I give them regular soda instead of diet,” one viewer wrote.
“I’m charging them for lemons and butter,” another added.
“I break their straws occasionally,” a third chimed in.
“I had a kid YELL at me for a soda. Dad did nothing. Lil dude got 20% root beer 80% soda water. He complained it tasted funny. Refilled exactly the same,” a third shared, revealing this soda trick is not uncommon in the service industry.
Another waiter shared how they usually offer compassion to rude customers as they have no idea what they are going through.
“I don’t do anything different. The rude guests are temporary and I have absolutely no idea what they have or are going through. I won’t lower myself or my work standards for anyone,” they shared.
Why Are People Rude To Waiters?
The nasty sides of people can come out when they go out to eat at a restaurant. Patrons may grow impatient waiting for the check and snap their fingers, give snarky remarks, or let their kids run wild without consequence.
The Guardian reports that restaurants are the best place to watch human power dynamics displayed. The restaurant hierarchy can have the server be perceived as having a submissive role, while the customer has power to demand whatever they wish.
Customers can be rude and aggressive toward waiters as a way to assert dominance and feel superior. The “customer’s always right” mentality can wreak havoc among the restaurant staff. Inexcusable behaviors are tolerated in restaurants, while those same behaviors would be inappropriate and unacceptable in other places.
However, as Minerva mentioned, service workers do get their revenge, so it’s in customers’ best interest to be polite to the people who wait on them.
@mini_minniii Your kids shouldn’t have mt. dew anyways 👀 (there’s so much more) #serverlife #tipping #servertiktok #serverproblems #customerservice
