The 'Sons of Anarchy' cast is reuniting for a meta limited series
The cast of Sons of Anarchy is set to reprise their roles from the beloved FX series, albeit in a somewhat ironic fashion. A new series titled Legends will see the Sons of Anarchy cast in a Galaxy Quest-esque scenario.
According to reports, FX — the network that originally broadcast Sons of Anarchy when it aired from 2008 to 2014 — has ordered a new series titled Legends, a limited meta-thriller in which the cast of Sons of Anarchy will reunite to play fictionalized versions that are thrust into a dangerous situation while attending a fan convention.

Sons of Anarchy cast members such as Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal, Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates and Theo Rossi will star in Legends.
“When the cast of Sons of Anarchy reunites at a fan convention after more than a decade, the line between life and art blurs as the fractured brotherhood finds itself up against a real-world threat more dangerous than anything they ever faced in their show.”
“When Charlie brought us this inspired idea, we instantly sparked to his bold and entertaining vision. Charlie’s talents are on full display as a writer, performer and executive producer, leading the real-life brotherhood on an adventure that is both a love letter to the series and a fun meta twist on what fans think they know,” said FX Entertainment President Nick Grad.
The meta concept is similar to that of the 1999 cult comedy classic Galaxy Guest, which follows the cast of a fictional Star Trek-like show when they are mistaken for real space heroes.
The series was developed by Hunnam alongside Looking and Mindhunter star Jonathan Groff, who will also appear in the show. The project has been in development for years and marks Hunnam’s first return to his star-making role of Jax Teller since the show ended in 2014.
FX’s president of drama Nick Grad praised the concept as something genuinely new — calling it “a love letter to the remarkable cast and passionate fanbase of *Sons of Anarchy*” while noting the show exists in its own lane separate from the original series and its existing spinoff *Mayans M.C.*
Sons of Anarchy ran for seven seasons from 2008 to 2014 and remains one of FX’s most beloved dramas, following the fictional SAMCRO motorcycle club in the California town of Charming. Its finale drew 9.2 million viewers — a series high.
Legends will air on FX and stream on Hulu. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
