Trey Parker and Matt Stone have given an update on their comedy with Kendrick Lamar
Trey Parker and Matt Stone have addressed the status of Whitney Springs, their long-delayed musical comedy with Kendrick Lamar. The South Park duo took responsibility for the project’s multiple delays.
In a statement to The Ankler, the South Park creators took full responsibility for repeated delays to the film, which has been removed from Paramount’s release calendar. Whitney Springs follows a Black historical reenactor at a slave plantation museum who finds himself confronting a racist Midwest town mayor — a role Parker is set to play.
The film was announced as a collaboration with Kendrick Lamar’s company pgLang and is set to include original, previously unreleased music from Lamar.

Parker and Stone said that the delays were caused by South Park commitments and unspecified “life’s circumstances.”
“We take full responsibility for the schedule delay of this movie. We apologize to our partners at pgLang and Paramount, and we appreciate their patience. South Park and life’s circumstances have gotten in the way, but we still believe in the project,” the pair said to The Ankler.
While Whitney Springs does not have an official release date, the project remains in development, and Parker and Stone remain committed to it.
South Park has been in the news in recent days as it ramps up the marketing for its 29th season, which premieres on September 16. First, the long-running animated series announced it was changing its name to “South America,” a shot at Donald Trump renaming things like Lake Ontario.
Then, they announced the release of a fake meme coin, the South Park Sucks Now meme coin, a shot at both “fans” who have been complaining that the show sucks now that it makes fun of Trump, and the Trump family reportedly raking in millions off their own cryptocurrency schemes.
