It happens every year in Australia but the fact that it’s an annual occurrence doesn’t make the ‘Spider Apocalypse‘ any easier to digest for foreign travelers as something that ‘Strayans just live with like that it is normal. The area often hit hardest is around Victoria where entire forests get enveloped by spider webs that look like netting they’re so thick.
One video from Australia that was posted this week by ‘Ash Adventures Abroad’ on TikTok has picked up a lot of attention with countless people, myself included, in utter disbelief at the size of these spider webs.
In response to a comment on her original video, Ash shared this as a ‘new (tourism) advert for Australia’ with people in awe that folks live side-by-side with these spider webs. These are sheet web spiders, for those who were wondering:

TikTok must’ve known that I had a visceral reaction to seeing the endless tents of sheet web spiders aka 2025 Spider Apocalypse because it threw me this video shortly afterward. Make sure to look behind her while she’s speaking. Just a normal day in Australia, right?

After watching this video I truly cannot help but wonder if Australians know they don’t have to live like this? All it would take is a flame thrower and a brave soul to take these down. But the flip side is spiders are valuable members of any ecosystem so if these terrifying spider webs were torched then what would replace them? A plague of locusts? Insects so thick the sky turns black?
And for what it is worth, these sheet web spiders taking over enormous swaths of land in Australia is an annual phenomenon that we have covered here on BroBible in the past. This is what the 2021 Spider Apocalypse in Australia looked like:
