Stella Lefty already sold out her first international headlining tour just two weeks after it was announced. However, the 24-year-old continues to be accused plagiarism as her critics (and fans!) start to realize that a lot of her songs sound a lot like other songs.
Did she rip off other artists?
Regardless of how you feel about the fast-rising country music artist, you can’t take away from her success. Lefty is doing things that I have, quite literally, never seen in such a short period of time. She gained more than half a million followers on social media in less than six months, skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard charts and just made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry. She also sold out some of the biggest middle-tier venues in the world.

If you have not yet heard of Stella Lefty, you must be living under a rock. She is one of the most popular artists in the world right now, in large part because of her smash hit ‘Boston.’
To be fair, she was not a thing as of January 1. Most people did not know who she was at the start of 2026. Her song ‘Thinkin’ Bout You’ started going viral on TikTok in early February. ‘Boston’ went nuclear in March and has not stopped climbing.
Lefty announced her first headlining tour on August 24. It includes stops at some pretty prominent venues like The Fillmore in Detroit, MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, Brooklyn Paramount, the Ryman in Nashville, the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago and the O2 Institute in the UK. Most artists who just became “popular” in the last six months would not play these spots, even though they are on the smaller side. They’re typically reserved for bigger-name artists— a category that now includes Lefty.
She posted the following graphic to Instagram, indicating that the tour is already sold out.
Some of the spots still have limited tickets available but they’re all pretty close to capacity. Her record label apparently decided to call its shot early. And rightfully so! It is quite the feat.

Plagiarism? Rip off? Or coincidence?
As Stella Lefty continues to gain popularity, the haters continue to get louder. And — even if I like her as both an artist and a person — they might have a point.
The song ‘Boston’ is described as a “sweet interpolation” of ‘Stick Season’ by Noah Kahan. The two songs sound a lot alike. Kahan’s label heard Lefty’s hit go viral on TikTok and reached out with a request (demand) for a songwriting credit. She claims he was not on her mind when she wrote the song but her old TikTok videos seem to prove otherwise.
From there, it was ‘Summer You Were Mine,’ which sounds a lot like ‘There’s Your Trouble’ by The (Dixie) Chicks.
Tia Sillers and Mark Selby, who wrote ‘There’s Your Trouble’ for The Chicks, are now credited on Lefty’s song.
Most recently, it was Lefty’s song ‘Why Wouldn’t We?’ that came under scrutiny because it sounds like a mix of ‘The Climb’ by Miley Cyrus, ‘God Made Girls’ by RaeLynn and ‘I’ll Name The Dogs’ by Blake Shelton. Even if it was not on purpose, because country music only has so many chord progressions, you will not be able to unhear it.
‘Misery’ is another one. If you jump to the 32-second mark, it sounds a lot like ‘A Million Dreams’ from The Greatest Showman.
