Taco Bell Workers Show What They’ll Do To You Food If You Order Too Close To Closing Time: ‘20 Minutes Is Not This Bad’

Restaurant closing times are a controversial subject. Some believe you can waltz into an establishment five minutes before closing and order a full meal. Others think that you need at least an hour’s lead time as a courtesy to the kitchen and waitstaff. But does this same temporal consideration apply to fast-food locations? According to these Taco Bell employees, it most certainly does.

A video posted to TikTok by user @breeszy, a worker for the Live Mas brand, shows what they think of right-before-closing customers. In the clip, they highlight how someone ordered “a party pack 20 minutes before close.” Because they decided to purchase that much food just as employees were ready to clock out, vengeance was served.

In Breeszy’s video, they show the party pack in question. All along the top of the box’s handle and its upper sides are stickers joining it together. This makes it a pain for hungry customers to get to their food.

Taco Bell Workers Vs. Late-Night Customers

Some viewers were upset by the workers’ actions. One person wrote, “I really don’t understand why it’s such a big deal. I’ve worked fast food closing shifts before. Why can’t you just do your job and make the food that you’re getting [paid] to do anyways, why is it such a problem?”

“Having worked in the fast industry, 20 minutes isn’t s—-. 5-10 minute mark is where it’s annoying. Everybody wants money but nobody wants to put in the work for it,” another penned.

Someone else echoed the same sentiment, writing, “I worked at Taco Bell for a few years in highschool and remember making ten party packs in under 15 minutes … literally not that hard.”

Others rattled off comments questioning why Breeszy and others seem miffed whenever they’re hired to perform a task but don’t want to actually perform it. One sarcastically quipped, “You have to do your job, oh noooo.”

Is The Party Pack Annoying For Taco Bell Workers To Make?

One Reddit user posted to the r/tacobell sub, posing this very question. “For the hardworking and beloved employees of Taco Bell: does ordering a Taco Party Pack make you angry at me?” they asked.

The few people who responded had varying opinions. According to one Redditor, they’re not that bothersome to prepare. The only time they are, they conceded, is when they receive multiple back-to-back party pack requests. “No, they are easy. It’s just when we had party pack after party pack that we’d get annoyed,” they wrote.

Conversely, another said that they are indeed irritating to assemble when it’s nearing closing time. Although, according to them, there are much worse things to have to prepare.

“Ordering five or more grilled items is way more annoying, especially if all 5 are quesadillas. Time of day also matters a lot. If the Taco Bell closes at midnight and you’re ordering party packs at 11:45, then yeah, it’s extremely annoying because there are likely two people working in the entire restaurant,” they wrote.

What’s In The Taco Bell Party Pack?

According to the brand’s website, it offers several different types of party packs that can be customized in different ways. However, they all boil down to three staple items: hard-shell tacos, soft-shell tacos, and burritos. These three separate products can be mixed and matched in different ways. If you want to go the Doritos Locos and Taco Supreme route, you’ll have to shell out $28.49. This option comes with six of the aforementioned items, with any additions and customizations, resulting in extra charges. A standard 12 all-hard or all-soft taco party pack comes in at $20.99. And for $16.99, customers can nab four crunchy tacos and four beefy 5-layer burritos placed in the chain’s recognizable box.

The Daily Meal also published a list of customer ordering habits that purportedly grind the gears of Taco Bell workers. One mentioned grievance is the disparity between ordering online and in-store. Taco Bell often posts special meal deals on its mobile app. Any attempts at finding these items on a physical location’s menu will be met with either blank stares or requests that their food order be made through the restaurant’s app itself. So if you find a great party pack or crave a box deal on the app and are rushing to get to a restaurant before it closes, a safe bet would be to make the order right on your mobile device.
