It’s been virtually impossible for the average person to avoid the impact inflation has had on the price of goods across the board over the past year or so, and there are plenty of examples you can point to when highlighting the hike in the cost of the many items people rely on to get through the day.

However, Scott Martin—who serves as the CIO at Kingsview Wealth Management—took a very interesting route when he appeared on Fox Business earlier this month and bemoaned the impact inflation has had while discussing the “nice lunch” he ordered at Taco Bell that set him back $28.

The clip of Martin’s admission quickly went viral thanks to the many, many people who understand the sheer amount of effort you have to exert to spend $28 on a single meal at Taco Bell (including a number of brave souls who did so before attempting to consume the absurd amount of food you can obtain for that sum).

Martin took the jokes in stride and eventually posted a picture of the order in question (one that he probably wants to avoid sharing with his cardiologist).

He also seemed to appreciate the promo Taco Bell quietly rolled out to have some fun at his expense after the story made the rounds.

Taco Bell is offering discounts to anyone who manages to spend $28 on lunch

According to Yahoo, Taco Bell has rolled out a new offer in the “My Challenges” section of its app inspired by Martin’s lunch, as customers who are able to match or exceed the amount he spent on an order placed between 11 A.M. and 2 P.M. can get 20% off the next order they place (although the discount caps at $10).

Martin once again played along and gave Taco Bell credit where credit was due for the stunt.
