The New York Jets haven’t played in a Sunday Night Football game since 2012 (the infamous Butt Fumble game, in fact). And now, thanks to Taylor Swift, their matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend might turn into the most widely-televised funeral since Princess Diana’s.

According to reports, Swift is set to follow up her headline-making appearance at Arrowhead Stadium last weekend by showing up for the Chiefs’ matchup against the Jets at MetLife Stadium this Sunday, thus turning what was already a spiraling-out-of-control season for Gang Green into an unabashed nightmare.

While the Chiefs’ game against the Bears was a locally-televised, Sunday at 1 p.m. matchup, the Jets vs. Chiefs game is being nationally televised on NBC, meaning that any “Swiftie” that wants to tune in, can tune in. And given that most of her fans have spent the week learning about the sport of football, their eyeballs being fixed on Sunday Night Football feels likely.

With the Jets already on the verge of implosion and head coach Robert Saleh seemingly prepared to risk his job in order to appease Wilson, Sunday night could turn ugly fast if the Chiefs do what they usually do: beat up on bad teams.

Wilson already looks like the worst quarterback in the history of the National Football League, so one can only imagine how he might look knowing that one of the most famous women in the world and her millions of fans are also tuning in.

Jets fans have been known to boo their own players off the field before, having just done so to Wilson last week against the Patriots. With the atmosphere of Sunday Night Football (and therefore a full day of drinking/tailgating) and the attention Swift will bring, MetLife Stadium could be in rare form on Sunday night.

The Chiefs are favored over the Jets by 9.5 points, which means the bookies might smell a potential blowout in the works. Jets fans certainly know the feeling all too well.
