A Texas-based man shared one of his favorite steaks at LongHorn Steakhouse which he describes as 'phenomenal.'

At LongHorn Steakhouse, customers can order various steak cuts and seasonings—cooked to the level of their choosing. It’s a steakhouse with plenty of options to choose from. For one self-proclaimed fan of the chain, there’s a specific steak that stands out to him, and the Texan believes it is “phenomenal.”

“So, I’m a super big fan of LongHorn’s, and they have this seven-pepper steak,” Texas customer Jay (@jaytexas7) says, gesturing to a cooked, oblong-shaped steak covered in spices on his plate. When he cuts the meat in half, he reveals the dark pink center, indicating its cooked to medium rare.

“Oh, my. Look at that,” he says, cutting a slice and eating it, relishing the flavor.

Then, a female server checks up on him, chiming in about the steak. “It’s completely covered with seven different seasonings, which is a seven different types of spicy seasonings,” she says. “It’s covered with a brown butter.”

“This steak is phenomenal,” the content creator declares, eating another piece. “If you’re looking for a good, juicy steak, get that seven-pepper steak.”

A Little-Known Menu Item

Jay’s video amassed over 615,000 views, enticing some to rush to their nearest LongHorn Steakhouse to try out the seven-pepper steak.

“Now ima have to go to Longhorn,” one viewer commented.

“Welp, [I] know what [I’m] having for dinner,” another stated.

Meanwhile, others were confused about the cut, as the shape of the steak threw them off.

“That’s an alligator tail cut of steak?? Never seen that one before,” one commenter remarked.

“What cut is that? I’m a butcher and I’m lost,” a second said.

“Looks like a pork loin lol,” a third joked.

What Steak Cut Is The 7-Pepper Steak?

The description Jay’s server provided in his clip checks out. According to the restaurant’s website, this is a fire-grilled, 14-ounce 7-Pepper Crusted New York Strip. It’s doused in seven-pepper seasoning and brown butter herb sauce.

Tasting Table says customers can add this seasoning to spice up any steak cut or even order it as a seven-pepper sirloin salad.

What’s In The 7-Pepper Seasoning?

While Darden, LongHorn Steakhouse’s parent company, hasn’t confirmed what the seven peppers are, one alleged employee in Jay’s comments section claimed, “The 7-pepper seasoning is a proprietary seasoning blend exclusively made by and used at Longhorn Steakhouse.”

The seasoning has been mentioned online before. Another worker, in the r/LongHornSteakhouse subreddit, claimed this isn’t a seasoning packet. Rather, it’s several different spices layered on individually, they said.

They shared, “From my handbook for grill masters, ‘supposedly’ the seasoning packet has – chili pepper, ground red pepper, white pepper, jalapeño pepper, black pepper, red bell pepper and crushed red pepper.”
