Man Orders ‘Generous’ 6-Ounce Steak From LongHorn Steakhouse. Then He Realizes Just How Badly He Was Bamboozled

When a LongHorn Steakhouse customer went to the eatery, he was hoping to try some tender, succulent steak. However, the only thing he ended up tasting was disappointment after realizing that the restaurant shortchanged him with his so-called 6-ounce steak.

Usually, LongHorn Steakhouse is considered to offer the best casual dining steaks out there—but this might not be true anymore.

The viral clip, which has racked up a huge 15.6 million views, was filmed by TikTok user @dccustomjewelry. The eight-second video consists of him pressing the tiny ball of steak with his thumb. It looks to be between 2 to 3 ounces. To add insult to injury, it appears to be considerably charred.

“Check out my generous 6oz cut steak from Longhorn Steakhouse,” on-screen text read. “And then they tried to guilt me into accepting this was normal. I can eyeball steak on the scale everytime.”

In the video description, the disgruntled customer added, “When times are hard they raise the price and give you half.”

What Did Commenters Say?

Commenters saw the funny side. “That’s a beef scallop,” one wrote.

“Maybe it was a misteak,” a second quipped.

A third opined, “Anyone ordering a 6oz steak should be jailed.”

Others took the issue more seriously.

“The comments not understanding what a 6oz steak is supposed to look like is killing my soul,” a fourth admitted.

“This reminds me of the time Texas Roadhouse thought this was acceptable,” a fifth noted, sharing a picture of a tiny burger patty inside noticeably larger buns.

“The worst part, multiple people saw that plate of food and didn’t think to stop it from being brought out to you,” a sixth remarked. “Disrespectful.”

Is This Shrinkflation?

One of the hashtags on the video is #inflation. The thing that @dccustomjewelry is likely alluding to is most likely “shrinkflation,” which refers to the practice of businesses shrinking their products while continuing to increase the price of them. It’s a principle that applies to food and other physical products.

However, in 2025, Darden CEO Rick Cardenas claimed that the opposite was true. During the annual ICR conference, he reportedly said that the company had gotten rid of price-point promotions and reinvested this marketing money “to put more food on the plate and talk about quality.”

“Then, over time, we didn’t have to talk about quality because everybody knew,” he added. “Over time, we weaned off the communication and put more on the plate per dollar than everybody in the space.”

LongHorn’s Portion Sizes Have Gone Viral Before

But this doesn’t necessarily line up with some LongHorn Steakhouse customers’ recent experiences. Along with @dccustomjewelry, TikTok user Mathiah (@mathiah_) took to TikTok after being left underwhelmed by the portion size of his salad.

“I just ordered a chicken salad from LongHorn Steakhouse,” he said. “And just look at the portions.”

While the salad itself seemed fairly portioned, there were only seven small pieces of chicken, making the dish look noticeably sparse.

“Come on,” he complains.
