Netflix has released the first trailer for The Bubble, the latest comedy from filmmaker Judd Apatow, who’s directed modern comedy classics such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up, and it looks like it’ll be the 54-year-old’s funniest movie since 2012’s This Is 40.
The plot of the film is relatively basic yet genius: a group of actors and actresses get stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a sequel to an action franchise film about flying dinosaurs.
The film stars a massive ensemble cast that includes the likes of Karen Gillan, Pedro Pascal, Keegan-Michael Key, Leslie Mann, Fred Armisen, Maria Bakalova, David Duchovny, Kate McKinnon, and more. The Bubble will hit Netflix in the United States on Friday, April 1.
Speaking of Pedro Pascal, let’s talk about this dude’s virtually unprecedented career arc over the last few years. This dude basically said: “Hold up let me take a break from being the face of Star Wars (in The Mandalorian) and starring in a new highly-anticipated flagship HBO series (The Last of Us) and cracking jokes in a gonzo Nic Cage movie (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent) to go make a Judd Apatow meta-comedy.” That is a preposterous flex — his recent filmography is truly a sight to behold. And best of all, he comes across as one of the chillest guys in Hollywood. Keep stacking the bread, Pedro. Can’t wait for season three of The Mandalorian — NEED to see you and Baby Yoda stacking as many bodies as you do bread.
