Elon Musk and Joe Rogan are enchanted by the ‘Sphere’ in Las Vegas. They both had their minds blown.
The Sphere, which first lit up its exosphere on the 4th of July, opened its doors for the first time at the end of October. U2 currently holds residence at the world’s most viral entertainment venue through the middle of February, and there are A LOT of rumors about who might be in line to take over.
When Bono and company aren’t rocking the arena, Oscar-nominated director Darren Aronofsky’s ground-breaking film ‘Postcard From Earth’ takes viewers on a remarkable journey across the globe. Formula 1 even made the ‘Sphere’ a crucial piece to the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Needless to say, its imprint on society is pretty profound. Every new image that comes from both outside and inside of the Sphere is even cooler than the one before.
Musk saw Arronosky he was in attendance at a U2 show at the end of October and posted a cool video from the venue, which he said was “exquisite beyond words.” He later discussed his experience with Rogan on an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and explained that the Sphere is so high-tech and intense that the outside world becomes boring upon return to reality.
The Sphere is remarkable!
With a capacity of 18,000, the Sphere auditorium stands 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide. All of the images are displayed in 18K on the world’s largest LED screen. It is about the size of four football fields. A whopping 164,000 surround-sound speakers make up the audio system.
To be inside of the ‘Sphere’ is an immersive experience. It blurs the lines between what is real and what is fiction. Musk found it to be, in a sense, disorienting.
Watching U2 wail or taking a visual trip across the globe, and then walking back outside to Sin City is a bit jarring. That is not a bad thing! It is a testament to the impressive venue.
