Ever since ole bearded medieval Pillsbury Doughboy dropped A Dance with Dragons back in 2011, he’s literally given us almost a decade of lip-service about where the next installment — The Winds of Winter — is, why it’s taking so long, and when fans can expect it to be released.
And every single time, it’s some bullshit. So, if you’re still willing to believe a word that comes out of Martin’s move, here’s his latest update on the mythical release of The Winder of Winter.
“I expect to be involved in [‘House of the Dragon’] to some extent and, who knows, if things work out, I may even be able to script a few episodes, as I did for the first four seasons of ‘Game of Thrones’. But let me make this perfectly clear…I am not taking on any scripts until I have finished and delivered ‘Winds of Winter.’ Winter is still coming, and ‘Winds’ remains my priority, as much as I’d love to write an episode of ‘House.’”
Once again, it’s another non-answer answer from Martin, as he’s only promising that he won’t work on any House of the Dragon scripts for HBO prior to finishing The Winds of Winter. As Doctor Evil once oped, whoop-de-doo Basil.
It’s been a busy week for Martin, as earlier this week, HBO confirmed the straight-to-series order of House of the Dragon, which will be a prequel series that is set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and will follow the House Targaryen civil war.
